Remuda's Anxiety Disorders Program provides intensive holistic treatment for women and girls struggling with anxiety disorders such as:

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
  • Trichotillimania
  • Panic Disorder
  • Agoraphobia
  • Social Phobia
  • Separation Anxiety Disorders

Coordinated use of the highly effective Remuda Model of treatment focuses on the core, mind-body-social-spiritual approach to care. With it, our inpatient program is designed to help patients manage, equip and cope with their disorder, and eventually move on to lead full and happy lives.

Our 45-day program gives women and girls the chance to witness concrete and long-term change for themselves. It is only through a sustained and intensive approach to treatment that our patients enjoy long-term success.

Our Anxiety Program is intimate in nature, with an emphasis on individualized attention. And, because severe anxiety disorders oftentimes have co-occurring issues, our team of caring and qualified professionals also help patients cope with depression, social isolation, shame, loss of self-esteem and substance abuse.

By combining meaningful treatment, innovative therapies and a skilled host of behavioral and psychological professionals, women and girls struggling with anxiety receive the best possible treatment, and an incredible chance at recovery. Our age-appropriate programs ensure that each patient is surrounded by her peers and receives treatment from professionals specializing in that specific age group.

TREATMENT APPROACH

While a woman or young woman is receiving care at Remuda, we utilize Cognative Behavioral Therapy and Exposure with Response Prevention Therapy when needed. By exposing a patient to trigger stressors in a safe and nurturing environment, they learn to effectively cope with their anxiety.

TREATMENT TEAM

Every woman that walks through our doors has a team of caring professionals dedicated to her recovery:

  • Primary Care Providers evaluate and monitor physical health
  • Psychiatric Providers offer psychiatric oversight and closely monitor medication
  • Psychologists provide psychometric testing and diagnostic services to facilitate treatment planning and exposure with response prevention therapy to manage phobias and OC symptoms
  • Masters or Doctoral Level Therapists meet with every patient in one-on-one and group sessions to uncover the roots of the anxiety disorder and to build healthy coping skills
  • Registered Dietitians tailor a meal plan, if needed
  • Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Mental Health Technicians attend to patients around the clock to provide consistency, care and accountability
  • Education Coordinators nurture a patient's mind by helping her meet her academic needs

GROUP THERAPY

In group therapy sessions, women and girls are able to share their thoughts, gain insight and develop skills that help them cope with their own disorder. Through healthy and constructive interaction with their peers, patients learn that there are others struggling with the same issues as themselves.

Group therapies include:

  • Community Meetings
  • Health Issues
  • Recovery Process
  • Skills
  • Nutrition
  • Exposure Therapy Interventions
  • Trauma Recovery
  • Substance Recovery
  • Anxiety Reduction

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

The First Line of Love

In addition to having an impact on an individual, psychiatric disorders affect the ones closest to them, especially family members. Remuda believes that for a patient to fully recover, some understanding in the hearts and minds of every family member must occur.

Throughout treatment, therapeutic phone calls with family members move them toward a common ground. It's during Family Week, however, that patients and their families are exposed to education and intensive counseling. Family members have the opportunity to express the disorder's impact on them through Truth in Love sessions which are conducted by skilled family therapists. These qualified therapists facilitate healthy discussion and nurture forgiveness and healing.

EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES

Unconventional and interactive methods of expression give patients an outlet for the complex emotions and stressors present in their lives.

Therapies include:
  • Equine
  • Canine
  • Movement
  • Art
  • Challenge
  • Recreational Activities

ACADEMICS

An integral part of the Remuda Model of treatment is the healing of the mind. And for that simple reason, every girl meets with an education coordinator on a regular basis. With the help of a patient's school, coordinators and patients tailor a curriculum that mirrors a lesson plan that her classmates are taking back home.

AFTERCARE

Help is never more than a phone call away. A fact especially true for patients struggling with recovery after treatment at Remuda. The Aftercare program helps patients stay on track and stay healthy by identifying and avoiding relapse. With their help, we develop a comprehensive aftercare plan with patients that include periodic contact (five times within the first year, to be exact) with a follow-up coordinator. Staff is always on call, if additional help is needed.

Recovery is a lifelong struggle. But with the help of a program committed to the rediscovery of hope, the first step to recovery is well within reach.
